Joliet--State Budget Hearing--Please Attend and Voice Your Support for the Arts!

Governor Rod Blagojevich's vetoed budget calls for a dramatic 30% cut (over $7 million) to the Illinois Arts Council (IAC) budget from what was approved by the General Assembly on August 10, 2007 – this will reduce IAC's overall budget by more than $5 million from last year's level and will significantly reduce the funds available for IAC grant programs.

We must act now to send a powerful message that support for the arts is essential! The Illinois House of Representatives will hold veto budget hearings across the state. Please attend and voice your support for the arts!
